Over time stone memorials can require renovation in the form of cleaning, fixing and levelling, and sometimes re-carving of lettering. We welcome enquiries for these services and will usually visit the memorial before submitting a quotation. Sometimes we are not able to carry out the renovation work in situ and it is necessary to remove all of the stonework to our workshop. The results are usually stunning and cost very little compared to commissioning a completely new memorial.
When stone is weathered and takes on lichens, algae and moss, it is sometimes difficult to tell what sort of stone it is. There is a common misconception that the older stones are made of concrete but they are not.
