The majority of memorial stones we create at Stonewriters are bespoke and therefore priced individually. However we do understand that our customers appreciate a pricing guide before they contact us, and we make available a catalogue showing photos of available designs which you may find helpful. Please bear in mind that prices vary according to stone type, size, shape and amount of lettering and decoration. This means prices start from around £400 and can go up to several thousands of pounds. If you are working to a budget (and this can sometimes be the main criteria!) it is usually more helpful to you (and us) if you can tell us what you budget is. In this way we can then find or suggest something within your budget from the start
This information is intended as a guide only and all prices include fixing to the National Association of Memorial Masons Code Of Working Practice, but does not include Church and Local Authority permit fees, which vary.
Small (12" x 12" x 2" thickness) granite memorial tablets are likely to be in the region of £400. Although these types of memorial are at the lower end of our pricing range, we do take pride in designing the layout of the lettering to its very best advantage. Even the simplest design will be very effective if careful attention to the layout and spacing is given.
The majority of the memorials and headstones we supply and install of a 'standard size range' and amount of inscription usually cost somewhere between £1,500 and £2,000.
At the top end of our range are memorials with bespoke designed lettering, being hand-cut in the traditional way with a chisel and mallet (known as a dummy). These are usually monolith type headstones and include the more expensive types of British stone such as slate, yorkstone and Portland stone. Prices are typically in the region of £2,500 - £3,500.
This range would also include very large memorials with kerb surrounds, slab covers and adornments which can be anything from £3,500 upwards.
